Pete Edochie, Yul’s father, confirmed the news to Vanguard, stating that his son had informed him of Kambilichukwu’s fall while playing football with his schoolmates. He developed a seizure and was rushed to the Mother and Child Hospital in Lagos, where he passed away a few hours later.

Lagos Police Spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed to the BBC that Yul had reported the incident at a nearby police station, and an investigation had commenced to uncover the cause of Kambilichukwu’s death.

“We will investigate what led to the boy’s death,” said Hundeyin. “There’s a need to carry out an autopsy to know what really happened. We can’t say what happened until the autopsy is done, but the incident happened at his school.”
